What to Expect
Kentucky’s “bourbon boom” of the past quarter century has created an increase in distilleries, supply, and tourism (referred to as the Kentucky Bourbon Trail or by its nickname, “Bourbon Road”) to a rural area most famous for raising thoroughbred racehorses. Recently, a shrinking consumer demand has presented a looming “bourbon bubble”. Smaller distilleries struggle to gain a foothold in this new market while the large corporate distilleries position themselves to outlast, or in some cases, eliminate their smaller competition. In this rural county, only two small distilleries remain and their futures are uncertain. The owners face few choices. Will they join forces and keep the “Bourbon Road” tourism flowing into their community? Or are they simply resigned to their bubble bursting?

“This is a uniquely American story about business and craftsmanship in a rapidly changing economic environment. With themes of legacy, generational divides, and adapting to unfavorable market forces, I believe audiences will be able to relate to various dynamics in this show.”
